A Message of Gratitude
As we navigate this challenging time, I wanted to check-in. Jamie, Waylon, and I have been in Asheville for a few weeks now and although the trip from Girona to the US was an extremely tense challenge, we are so thankful to be here and amongst such a loving and helpful community, even when interactions need to happen from a distance.
Fortunately, Jamie and I are sharing quarantine with our little guy, Waylon, and he provides a sweet form of distraction. Daily, we are immersed into and tested by life as new parents. We are so grateful for the joy that Waylon has added to our lives during an otherwise tumultuous time.
In terms of training and racing, I'm in a holding pattern and awaiting word for when we will be able to resume. After a period of complete home confinement in Spain, I am relishing the chance to go solo and safely enjoy some outside riding on my favorite Asheville area roads. It's been so long since I have spent any portion of Spring in Western North Carolina that I'm awestruck by all the beautiful blooming and layers of color combined with the crisp warming air.
I know once we reach the other side of this challenge, I will have an even greater appreciation and need for The Binge and for catching up and seeing all of you. We will be in touch as spring unfolds and we learn more about where we are headed for the coming months.
We are still hopeful that we can all enjoy the Bookwalter Binge Gran Fondo this fall, but obviously we cannot say with certainty how we will hold the event nevertheless, Jamie and I ask you to save the date - Saturday October 31, to ride with us at the Binge. We will definitely be ready to see you!
In the meantime, stay safe and stay in touch. I'd love to hear from you through email, on Instagram, and on Facebook.
