2016 Tour de France – Stage 8

Pau – Bagnères-de-Luchon---183 km

Brent and the BMC Racing Team knew the days in the Tour de France lead were numbered for Greg Van Avermaet. And despite a more than six-minute advantage, Van Avermaet finished far back Saturday to concede the lead to Stage 8 winner Chris Froome (Team Sky).

Brent and several teammates did their best to keep Tejay van Garderen in overall contention. Van Garderen and teammate Richite Porte finished in a group 13 seconds back. Van Garderen is a team-best eighth overall, 23 seconds off the lead.
